Welcome to Design and Technology at Highams Park School!

We have a team of experienced teachers, 4 workshops and a dedicated electronics/computer suite along with an ever-helpful technician.

In Year 7 you will have the chance to explore the properties of a huge range of materials and make your own unique products.

We will learn about the properties of metals and making a personalised balancing sculpture from steel and pewter.

We will be exploring the electronics and making a circuit.

Timber! That’s right you will get to do woodwork too, using saws, chisels, and mallets to create a housing for the electronic circuit.

Before all these practical explorations you will learn how to be an effective visual communicator developing a powerful toolkit of drawings skills and there is an opportunity to learn about some of the many important designers that have shaped our world.
