Geography

Geography is the study of the world. Geographers study people, what we do, where we live and the way we interact with our natural environment. This means we are part of the Humanities department and work closely with History and RS to study topics, but we are also a Science.

You will have two Geography lessons a week. We like to keep up with current affairs so make lots of use of our computer rooms.  We also enjoy getting out of school to see real places and practise our fieldwork skills.

Geography is a great subject that helps us to make lots of links with our everyday lives and to see them through the eyes of a geographer. In year 7 we start with a topic called Amazing Geography that takes us on a virtual fieldtrip around the world. Then we go to Africa to study Development. After that we explore Planet Ocean to find out more about the importance of our blue planet.  Then we come back to places and ask Where do we live? by looking at the reasons for settling down but also what modern cities are like.
