Welcome to Science at Highams Park!

This year you will have 3 science lessons a week and you will study Biology, Physics and Chemistry in your science lessons. You will have 2 different science teachers.

We have 9 laboratory’s in Highams park school which are our specialist teaching spaces for science – these labs are equipped for us to carry out all the practical elements of your science lessons.

You will love Science! It is such a vast subject, covering so many areas of our day to day life. The practical nature of the subject means that you get to experiment and prove all the theories that you will be learning about. Science lessons also take place outside the labs – especially in the summer term where we study ecology and environmental units!

Year 7 science topics include….

Tissues and organs, reproduction and extinction, ecology and the environment, classification of life on earth, acids and alkalis, chemical reactions, states of matter, rocks and our planet, energy, electricity, forces and our solar system.
