Citizenship

Citizenship is a fun and informative lesson where you will develop the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to be an active and responsible citizen of your communities, your country and your planet.

Knowing your rights and responsibilities as a citizen is a very powerful thing and will help you in your life beyond school, for example, by helping you to understand how to look after your money and how UK law works.

In Citizenship lessons there are lots of opportunities to share your own opinions and to debate controversial topics in a safe environment. The lesson will give you the chance to discuss events you have seen happening in the news or in your local area.

As part of the course, you will also learn (in an age-appropriate way) about the changes you will face during puberty, about healthy relationships, consent and how to keep yourself and others safe.

In year 7 you will have one Citizenship lesson a week with your form group, which will help to strengthen your relationships with other students in your form.
