School Rebuilding Programme
Highams Park School is excited to be part of the government's School Rebuilding Programme. You can read more about that here.
Since the announcement in 2021 the school has been working closely with the Department for Education and their advisors to come up with a design for the new school. This was submitted in July 2023 to the local planning department and finally received approval in June 2024.
The DfE have appointed Bowmer + Kirkland (B+K) as the main contractor. B+K have an excellent record in building schools and we look forward to continuing to work with their team throughout the project.
Work began on site in early 2025. In September 2025 we moved into a high specification temporary building located on our field. We continue to work hard, in partnership with the DfE and B+K, to ensure that the disruption caused by the building work is kept to a minimum.
The temporary building will have classrooms, IT rooms, Library, Canteen, toilets and offices in it. The images below are an example of the temporary building which is being built for us to our design requirements.
Demolition has already started and is ahead of schedule with the West Wing and North Block already demolished. Work is underway on the Main Building now and is all be undertaken in a careful, considerate and safe way by the contractors. You can see some images of the demolition below.
